Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
Event Description:
The City of Washington will hold a Memorial Day parade and ceremony starting at 10 am on Monday, May 28, 2018. The parade will start at W. Jefferson and N. Main streets and proceed south on S. Main Street to Oakwood Drive and into Glendale Cemetery. This city wide event includes the VFW, American Legion, the Washington Police Department, both local fire departments, WCHS band, the Scouts, a military reenactment group from the Central Illinois World War II Reenactment Organization, Legion Riders, and antique vehicles. The guest speaker will be Sergeant Steven Hopper, a Vietnam veteran. Veterans are invited to ride the Veteran Bus, which will load at the Washington Park District office on Spruce Street and then join the parade. Riders will be returned to the Park District office after the ceremony.
