Report Poor Tap Water Taste/Smell

This form can be used to report tap water that has an unpleasant taste or smell.  Before you submit this report, please consider the following questions.

  • Has your home been vacant for any length of time?  Water can stagnant in the lines within your home causing odor and discoloration problems.  Please run your tap for 5-10 minutes to flush the interior lines.

 

  • Do you have a water softener?  While the City softens the water at both water plants, some homeowner’s elect to add their own softener.  Potential issues can arise with these systems if not properly maintained.  These units should be equipped with a bypass valve.  Try purging the interior lines, bypassing the softener.  If the odor diminishes, the unit needs attention.  Units no longer in use should be bypassed or removed by a plumber.
