Water/Sewer Billing Rates

The City of Washington bills for water/sewer services in units of 1,000 gallons of water.  Sewer charges are based on water consumption.  The current charges (effective May 1, 2019) including a new fixed fee for infrastructure improvements are as follows:

Volumetric Charge* Fixed Fee for Infrastructure Technology Fee
Water Sewer Total Water Sewer Single Meter Dual Meter
Resident $4.51 $9.39 $13.90 $5.00 $1.00 $3.85 $5.50
Qualified Senior Citizen/Disabled $4.06 $8.45 $12.51 $4.50 $.90 $3.85 $5.50
Circuit Breaker $3.70 $7.70 $11.40 $4.10 $.82 $3.85 $5.50
Non-Resident $5.41 $11.27 $16.68 $6.00 $1.20 $3.85 $5.50

*water and sewer rates are per 1,000 gallons

An average bill is difficult to estimate because water consumption habits vary greatly from household to household. However, many families use about 2,000 gallons per month per member in the family.  Using the residential rate above would translate into a monthly average of $27.80 per person, plus a $6 fixed fee, and $3.85 or $5.50 technology fee. Both of the latter are per account fees.
